The Black and White Collection coming to a close

It has been wonderful to have Andy Willsher's fantastic music photography on display in the gallery. Sadly the show has to come to an end this Saturday 12th at 5pm. Thanks to all who have come to see the work and to Andy for putting on a fantastic exhibition.
Award winning Photographer Andy Willsher is currently celebrating 20 years as a Music Photographer. He brings to Sheffield ‘The Black and White Collection’, some of his finest work featuring iconic artists like, Paul Weller, Damon Albarn, Iggy Pop, Morrissey, Radiohead and Oasis, as well as some of our local heroes Richard Hawley and the Arctic Monkeys.
Andy has worked with a whole host of iconic bands and artists throughout his career from U2 to Amy Winehouse, Ryan Adams, Arthur Lee and the White Stripes,
In a life driven by his passion for photography Andy decided to ignore college and get a ‘real job’ so he could afford the next Canon model he had been craving. Whilst working at Barclays Bank in the West End, Andy took a holiday to follow a band called 'The Hollow Men' around the far reaches of Scotland and Ireland.
Andy Willsher said: "I decided from that point that this was the life for me. I think it was around this time I started printing up my own pictures and sending them to the music press in the vain hope they’d want to use one."
Finally that time did arrive and after a few shots had been published Andy got a phone call from NME Towers asking if he fancied shooting 'The Family Cat' at a school in Crewe. From that day on Andy has continued to photograph for NME, his work being viewed by music lovers across the globe.
“It’s a real honour to be able to bring the collection to Sheffield as the City itself has got so much musical heritage and over my career I’ve photographed so many Sheffield bands ranging from Heaven 17 to The Longpigs and the aforementioned Arctic Monkeys.”
Pete added: “Any one who knows me knows I am a huge music fan, I have always included music within my work so it is great to be able display some fantastic photography from the bands we all love. Andy is a superb photographer who can really capture that perfect moment, from the high pressure headline slots at major festivals to just having a laugh in the studio.”
The exhibition opens on Saturday 12 February and runs through until Saturday 12 March at my gallery ‘A Month of Sundays’ on Sharrow Vale Road, Sheffield.
